Outline
We have been working in partnership with BSUK over the last three years to manage and support their coach education programme. After consultation with coaches and feedback from the workforce, it was recognised that there was a need to revisit the coaching pathway and develop a new Level 2 course.
Approach
We worked closely with the National Development Manager to scope the new coach education pathway and vision for the professional development of coaches. We supported Will and the team at BSUK to shape the learning programme, assessment criteria along with content for the online learning.The Level 2 Award focuses on the development of coaches, mainly working a club level to plan, deliver and review baseball and softball sessions independently.
Outcome
The first BSUK Level 2 Award was delivered in November 2016 in Nottingham. We have now successfully delivered many Level 2 courses around the UK and engaged with 29 coaches who are working towards their new coaching award. Alongside this, we have also delivered a range of continual professional development courses, which have varied from disciplines such as pitching, hitting and drills for beginner coaches.
