Develop as an independent Korfball coach
The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching (Korfball) is designed for individuals who want to plan, deliver and review a series of linked and progressive Korfball coaching sessions.
The qualification is suitable for coaches working independently or as part of a coaching team and provides a foundation in the general principles of coaching alongside the technical and tactical elements of Korfball.

Who is it for?
New and developing coaches
This course is ideal for new or developing Korfball coaches who are building towards their Level 2 qualification and want to strengthen their ability to plan, deliver and review coaching sessions.
Qualification value
A recognised coaching qualification
The qualification is recognised by England Korfball and 1st4sport and is aligned to the CIMSPA Coach Professional Standard.
Successful learners achieve the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching (Korfball).

Learner eligibility
Check that this route is right for you
Learners must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years old on the first day of the course.
Communicate effectively in English, including listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Have access to a suitable coaching environment in which to deliver a series of coaching sessions.
Hold a valid Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificate before certification, in line with England Korfball's Common Minimum Standards.
You must also meet one of the following entry routes

Introduction Award
England Korfball Introduction to Coaching Korfball Award.

Previous Level 1
Previous England Korfball Level 1 Coaching Award.
03
IKF qualification
IKF Level 1 Coaching Award or higher.
OR
Coaching experience
At least 12 months of coaching experience, supported by appropriate evidence such as witness testimony.
Already an experienced coach?
If you hold a BKA Level 2 Certificate or have significant coaching experience, you may be eligible for the Level 2 Bridging Course, which recognises prior learning and experience.
Course format
A blended programme built around your coaching
The qualification combines online learning, tutor-led sessions and practical coaching in your own environment.

E-learning
Complete seven online modules on demand, each estimated to take around 1.5 hours.

Portfolio tasks
Complete portfolio activities alongside your e-learning and practical coaching.

Virtual classrooms
Attend tutor-led virtual classroom sessions as part of the programme.
04
Technical module
Attend a face-to-face technical module delivered by an approved England Korfball tutor.
Learning in your own coaching environment
You will also plan, deliver and evaluate a series of coaching sessions within your own club or coaching environment as part of the qualification.

What might the course look like?
The exact dates will vary by cohort, but a typical programme may follow the structure below.
Stage 1
Virtual classroom session 1
Access to the e-learning programme begins.
Stage 2
Face-to-face technical module
Attend the practical technical module with an approved England Korfball tutor.
Stage 3
Virtual classroom sessions 2 and 3
Continue completing your e-learning and portfolio.
Stage 4
Deliver your coaching programme
Plan and deliver a series of coaching sessions in your own club environment.
Stage 5
Submit for assessment
Complete your portfolio and submit the required coaching evidence.
Assessment
Demonstrate your coaching in practice
Assessment is based on your online learning, portfolio and practical coaching evidence.

Complete the e-learning
Complete all seven online learning modules and associated portfolio tasks.

Deliver six sessions
Plan, deliver and evaluate a coaching programme of at least six sessions in your own club environment.
03
Submit a coaching video
Record and submit one of your six coaching sessions for assessment by an England Korfball assessor.
04
Professional discussion
Take part in a virtual professional discussion once your coaching session has been observed.
Progression
Continue developing your coaching
Learners may wish to progress to further Korfball or coaching development opportunities, including higher-level International Korfball Federation coaching courses.

Full course or bridging course?
The full course is intended for new and developing coaches. Experienced coaches with existing qualifications or significant coaching experience may be better suited to the bridging route.
