Become qualified to assess vocational achievement
This course covers the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to assess occupational competence in the workplace, as well as vocational skills, knowledge and understanding outside the workplace, such as in a classroom or workshop.
You will attend a live virtual classroom session with an experienced tutor and assessor. You will then complete assessment tasks to show how you apply what you have learned in practice.

Learn, practise and demonstrate
Your taught session introduces the theory and practice of assessment. You then build a portfolio and carry out practical assessments in your own setting.
Entry requirements
- Be at least 18 years old and provide appropriate identification.
- Be able to communicate effectively in English, including listening, speaking, reading and writing.
- Hold a relevant vocational sports qualification in the subject you want to assess, at the same level or above.
- Have access to assess qualifications or assessments in both work and non-work environments.

How you will be assessed
After the virtual classroom session, you will produce a portfolio of evidence and complete practical assessment tasks. This includes:
- Tasks demonstrating knowledge of occupational competence and vocational achievement.
- Planning, conducting and reviewing learner assessments, including observation of your assessment practice.
- Four planned assessments: two learners in a non-work setting and two learners in a work setting.
