Our Partners

In August 2020, we were approached by the Activity Alliance to create a resource to showcase the learnings from GOGA projects on how to effectively engage disabled people from ethnically diverse communities. The audience of this resource was the GOGA localities and partners therefore we needed to ensure tangible examples were provided. Through initial conversations, it was agreed that using the 10 Talk to Me Principles as a framework for the learnings would identify and pull out these key themes in the best way.

Through desk based research on the evaluations of GOGA programmes, working in collaboration with key personnel at the Activity Alliance and speaking with partners, this all lead to a written resource being created. From the start of the research it was clear that being person-centred was a clear theme that needed to be pulled out and thread throughout the whole resource. The resource itself comprised of key considerations, real life examples of successful GOGA interventions and supporting links, all of which would allow partners to pick up the resource and clearly identify how better connect to disabled people from ethnically diverse communities and therefore improve engagement.

Kat Southall, Head of Programmes at the Activity Alliance, had this to say about the project: “The team at Sport Structures helped us to consolidate existing learning into a more user friendly format to disseminate to our partners. We look forward to sharing this with them in the new year!”
