Our Partners

The British Kite Surfing Association (BKSA) were successful in securing funding from the Sport England Impact and Improvement Fund to assist the Association in the development of a strategic plan through to 2015. The administration and support for the grant application was made by the Sport and Recreation Alliance (SaRA).

On the recommendation of SaRA, Sport Structures were commissioned to support the BKSA in their application and the project itself. The project was developed into three phases with a series of stages within those phases identifying the key tasks and milestones involved in the project.

We developed with the BKSA:

  • The Market analysis
  • Review of marketing and membership
  • Development of the future vision and objectives
  • Review of Governance

The project was delivered in three Phases : ASK – SHAPE - AGREE

PHASE 1: ASK: Consult with the key members, organisations and competitors as to the expectations for the plan from the current position.

STAGES:

1 Market Analysis

2 Customer Analysis

3 Competitor Analysis

4 Stakeholder Analysis

5 SWOT Analysis

PHASE 2: SHAPE: Develop a plan that addresses the “Gaps” in current provision to ensure that those who are to be responsible for the plans are involved in developing a realistic and manageable outcome.

STAGES:

6 Strategic Objectives

7 Gap & Risk Analysis

PHASE 3: AGREE: When the plan has been developed agree with the sport itself who will take responsibility for each element and how will it be monitored and evaluated.

STAGE: 8 Drafting Strategic Plan

Outcome

The outcome was an extensive market analysis and a clearly defined development plan to support the growth of the sport. The use of management models such as Porters five forces enabled a business approach to be taken in analysing BKSA's current position.
