Outline

We worked with Reading Football Club Community Trust to deliver the 1st4Sport Level 1 Award for Activators (Multi-Skills) to post 16 students who have been completing a level 2 or level 3 award in sport and community enterprise. BTEC sport students also attended the course.

Approach

We administered the course effectively ensuring tutors (who were from The Community Trust) and learners received the relevant information ahead of the course. This included pre-course information, workbooks and the learning programme. There was a need for the course as many of the students are starting to volunteer or work for Reading FC social inclusion. They will be facilitating physical activity sessions to children so an understanding of fundamental movement skills was essential.

Outcome

Richard Witt, Community Trust Deputy Manager said “We now have 16 students with more knowledge and understanding on how to deliver quality sessions. They have gained more confidence from doing the course. The course was very easy to organise the packs and we were provided with all the materials we needed”  . Some of the students will also be progressing to the level 2 qualification in multi-skills in the near future.
