Sport Structures - Sport Education and Training

This range of 1st4sport qualifications provides learners with a widely recognised regulated coaching qualification. These courses are designed to be completed in any sporting environment and so are not limited to specific sports. They are ideal for individuals working as independent coaches or those who coach in a non-sport specific environment.

Are these qualifications right for me?

Before undertaking one of these qualifications, we recommend that learners check with the organisation they currently work with, or intend to work for, to ensure that the qualification meets the needs of their role. Some organisations, such as National Governing Bodies of Sport, will have their own qualifications that coaches must complete, so it’s important that you are sure you are starting a qualification that will be suitable for your environment.

Qualification Who is it For?
1st4sport Level 1 Award in Assistant Coaching (Sport & Physical Activity) Learners who will be supporting a qualified Level 2 coach
1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching (regulated) plus technical certificate in Sport and Physical Activity (non-regulated) Learners with experience as an assistant coach who wish to progress to lead their own sessions
1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Coaching (Sport & Physical Activity) Experienced coaches wishing to develop their coaching practice and create longer-term coaching plans

How is the learning and assessment for these courses completed?

The learning for these courses is completed via the Sport Structures online learning platform and assessment tasks, both written and practical, are uploaded to Google Classrooms (this will require setting up a Google account if you do not have one already).

The practical assessment will need to be completed in your usual coaching environment and you will therefore need to already be in a club or similar environment before starting this course. You will need to be able to video your coaching session and so will need to ensure you either have, or can borrow, the equipment you will need. Sport Structures will provide guidance on how to ensure the quality of your video meets the standards required for your session to be assessed. You will also need to gain permission to video the participants in your session.
