Summary
We have on behalf of sports coach UK reviewed their second most popular workshop and resource ‘Equity in Your Coaching’.
Approach
Senior sports coach UK tutor Simon Kirkland was commissioned by sports coach UK to carry out this major review. The previous workshop and support materials were reviewed in conjunction with the five Sports Councils and the equity partners. The workshop took into account the changing face of equality legislation and the need to extend the nature of equality training for coaches.
During June 2007 update sessions were delivered across the country to the existing tutor workforce with the revised workshop content and enhanced workshop resource.
Outcome
The revised workshop and resource now looks at a broader perspective of equity including a broadening of understanding to include age, sexuality, religion and belief in addition to ethnicity, disability and gender. This will make the workshop and resource more relevant to the national equality agenda as well as providing a more informed workshop for coaches from clubs seeking re-accreditation for ClubMark.
