Summary

One of the core business objectives for CSPN is workforce development.We conducted a Training Needs Analysis for Core Staff . In order to better understand the current training needs of Core Staff and the wider professional workforce a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and Organisational Needs Analysis (ONA) was designed and undertaken.

Approach

TNA development - We developed a framework to be used to gather qualitative and quantitative data which included online surveys and focus group sessions.
ONA development - We provided a flexible approach to this data collection. Initial ideas were put forward to conduct an online survey, however during the piloting of data capture tools it was established that focus groups with each organisational type within the professional network would be more appropriate.
Data analysis - Data analysis was undertaken using SPSS PASW Statistic 18. Following initial data analysis of the TNAs, qualitative responses were collated and analysed through an extensive coding process; to identify key trends or themes and highlight significant quotes/ statements.

Outcomes

The report recommendations were proposed from the research to provide guidance for the CSPN Workforce Development Plan and/or separate training plan.The project resulted in detailed reports for their professional network.
