Summary
Due to the departure of the programme manager Sport Structures Ltd was asked to second Amy Heppinstall into the post of Sports Pathways Programme Manager for the remaining 16 months of the programme. This was further supported by Simon Kirkland who carried out a scoping report leading to securing further funding.
Approach
We have worked with both the PE and Sport as well as the Regeneration departments to develop an innovative and imaginative approach to developing sports coaching to those in a very disadvanged community. The participants undertake a twelve week programme consisting of sports coach UK and first-aid workshops, a level one qualification followed by a voluntary placement.
Outcome
The Sports Pathways programme has a high level of employment resulting from the programme and has engaged over 100 people a year into positive sporting experiences.
