Summary:

A project on Behalf of Boston Borough Council to support them with the development of a Community Sports Strategy.

Approach:

The project involved three phases of work:

Ask – Shape – Agree

The Ask phase included the following project areas which were managed simultaneously:

  • Desk based review of current local, regional and national strategies
  • Online survey development and analysis
  • A public meeting
  • Focus groups and interviews with key partners

The Shape phase involved the shaping of the audit report which followed the collection and analysis of data from the desk research, surveys and additional qualitative data collation from the public meetings and focus groups. The audit report contained initial findings and laid out the emerging options for the delivery of sport and recreation services across the public and third sectors within the borough.

The third phase – the Agree phase started with the circulation of the draft strategy to the project group, respondents to the survey and consultation with other key stakeholders whose opinion was vital to delivery and implementation. The feedback from the consultation was consolidated and incorporated into the final strategy.

Outcome:

A final community sports strategy was developed for the Borough Council.
