Summary
FIBA REFEREE INSTRUCTOR PROGRAMME (FRIP) is a worldwide programme to train Referee Instructors. This session in Turkey was an additional FRIP programme requested by FIBA Europe to train more Referee Instructors. Twenty Eight Instructors took part in the programme from across Europe.
Approach
The learning was delivered in a Hotel in Central Istanbul to twenty-eight instructors from countries ranging from Russia to Norway in the North and Croatia to France in the South. The learners had two days of teaching and learning delivered by Simon Kirkland. The interactive programme consisted of challenging thinking about how referee training has been delivered in the past and concentrates on facilitated learning.
Outcome
The instructors will now go back to their Federations where they will be developing new referee instructor programmes to train referees at all levels.
