Sport Structures - Sport Education and Training
This interactive workshop helps organisations ensure that coaches, staff and volunteers working with children and young people understand how to safeguard effectively. It is aligned with current safeguarding guidance and meets the requirements of national governing bodies and the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU).
We work with employers, clubs, local authorities, and education institutions to deliver this session either in person at your venue or online via a virtual classroom.
This workshop is ideal for:
- Coaches and instructors who work with children
- Volunteers and assistants in junior sport settings
- Welfare officers and safeguarding leads
- Leisure centre or community programme staff
- Teachers, support staff or those delivering extracurricular activities
- University and college sports staff
It is suitable for both paid and voluntary roles and can be tailored to the needs of your organisation or setting.
By the end of the session, participants will:
- Understand their role in safeguarding children
- Be able to recognise good practice and poor practice
- Identify signs of possible abuse or harm
- Know how and when to take appropriate action
- Feel more confident in creating a safe sporting environment for young people
The course uses practical, scenario-based learning to ensure participants are actively engaged throughout.
Learners must be:
- A minimum of 16 years of age for face-to-face workshops
- A minimum of 18 years of age for online workshops
- Able to communicate effectively in English.
In order to access this workshop online via a virtual classroom, learners will be required to:
- Have access to a laptop or tablet. A smartphone device is accepted but functionality can be limited. The device must have access to a microphone as the sessions will be interactive.
- Have good WIFI access
- Have access to an environment with limited distractions which is conducive to learning
- Be able to log into the workshop 10 minutes ahead of the designated start time.

We can deliver this workshop in the following ways:

All workshops are delivered by experienced, UK Coaching-licensed tutors.
Each participant receives:
- Access to a digital resource for 3 months after the workshop
- A certificate of attendance, valid for 3 years
- Follow-up support if needed
Optional printed resources can be provided for an additional cost.
On completion, all participants will receive a UK Coaching digital certificate. This is valid for three years and recognised by most national governing bodies and employers.
