Certificate in Coach Education and Development
Develop how you support coaches to learn, reflect and grow in their own environments.
Develop your practice as a coach educator
This qualification is for people who support coaches' learning and development. It focuses on the decisions you make when designing learning, building relationships, supporting individual coaches and assessing progress.
You will apply the learning in your own coach education or coach development setting. The emphasis is on using evidence and reflection to explain why you chose an approach, how you adapted it and what changed as a result.
Use your own work with coaches to build a professional portfolio that shows your judgement and development.

Two ways to work towards the qualification
Learn and apply the approach
Join the taught course, then build a portfolio using your own coach education or coach development practice. This route is suited to people who have a relevant tutoring, assessing, teaching or lecturing background and want to develop further.
Build on UK Coaching learning
This route is for people who have completed the UK Coaching non-regulated coach educator learning course. You will need to demonstrate how your existing learning and practice meet the requirements of the 1st4sport qualification through assessment.
Experience and access to practice
This Level 4 course builds on previous tutoring, assessing or teaching experience. A Level 3 tutor and assessor qualification, or a relevant teaching or lecturing qualification, is the expected starting point. You will also need opportunities to work with coaches so you can use your own practice as evidence.
For the RPL route, you must have completed the UK Coaching non-regulated coach educator course. If you are new to tutoring and assessing, the Level 3 Award for Tutors and Assessors in Sport may be a better first step.
