Level 3 First Line Management & Leadership (CMI)

About the course

This Chartered Management Institute (CMI) qualification is designed for individuals who are currently managing people or aspiring to take on leadership roles. Whether you're leading a team on the ground, coordinating projects, or supervising operations, this programme helps you build the skills to lead with confidence.

You have the flexibility to choose units that align with your personal development goals and the specific context of your role. This could be in coaching, facility management, community engagement or programme delivery.

Who is it for?

This qualification is ideal for individuals who operate in any industry:

  • Team leaders
  • Supervisors
  • Project officers
  • Shift managers

If you're responsible for guiding others and delivering outcomes, this course will help you.

Eligibility

To enrol, learners must:

  • Be aged 16 or over
  • Be working at a level that enables you to fully engage with the learning content and, where applicable, complete assessment requirements

Format of delivery

We use a blended learning approach to ensure you gain both knowledge and practical application relevant to your work. Each unit includes:

  • E-learning content (up to 1.5 hours): Flexible, bite-sized learning you can complete at your own pace.
  • Virtual classroom session (up to 2 hours): Live, interactive sessions with an expert tutor and peers to explore real-world scenarios and share best practice.
  • Tutor support: For those taking the regulated route, additional guidance is available to help you succeed.

Delivery for organisations

In addition to individual enrolment, this course can be delivered in-house for organisations looking to upskill multiple members of staff (both regulated or non-regulated pathways). We can work with you to schedule learning around your operational activities. Please contact us via [email protected] to discuss your specific requirements.

Why choose this course?

What makes our approach unique is direct access to expert tutors who have real world experience managing teams across a number of industries.

“Our blended learning approach empowers you to grow as a leader while staying fully engaged in your day-to-day role. Through collaborative sessions, you'll have the opportunity to share best practices, contextualise leadership models, and reflect with peers and tutors on how to approach real-life challenges. This approach helps to deepen understanding and practical insight—helping you become a more focused, confident, and effective leader. You’ll go beyond the basics of what you do and how you do it and begin to explore what you want to achieve and how to continuously improve. We have a strong emphasis on reflective practice to support your self awareness” (Joanne Collins, Course tutor)
