Course overview
Introduction to Coaching Korfball
The Introduction to Coaching Korfball award aims to develop an individual’s knowledge and skills to deliver fun, safe and engaging Korfball activities, under the guidance of a more qualified coach.
This course replaces the previous England Korfball Level 1 Award.

E-learning
Approx. 1.5 hours
Bite-sized online learning modules completed around the practical session.

Practical session
4 hours
Face-to-face delivery with an approved England Korfball tutor at a local venue.

Group size
8–20 learners
A minimum of eight learners is required, with a maximum of 20 learners for one tutor.

The award is aimed at people who want to support the delivery of Korfball activities and begin developing their coaching skills.

Entry requirements
Learner eligibility
Be at least 16 years of age.
Be able to communicate effectively in English, including listening, speaking, reading and writing.
How the course works
Course format
The course is delivered through a combination of online learning and face-to-face practical activity.

Complete the e-learning
Learners complete bite-sized online modules totalling approximately 1.5 hours of learning.

Attend the practical session
A four-hour face-to-face practical session is delivered locally by an approved England Korfball tutor.

Complete all elements
Learners must complete both elements of the course before their certificate can be issued.
E-learning access
Learners will be given access to the e-learning modules up to one week before the practical session and will have two weeks from the date of access to complete them. Additional time may be granted in exceptional circumstances upon request.
Progression opportunities
This course can lead to further learning or training in the area of coaching Korfball and/or other sport-specific courses.

1st4Sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Korfball
Learners who successfully achieve this award may progress to the Level 2 qualification.
For course organisers
What do I need to run a course?
Before requesting a course, please make sure you have a suitable venue, the equipment needed for practical delivery, appropriate first aid equipment and access to a defibrillator.

Sports hall
A sports hall with space equivalent to four badminton courts is recommended.
If your venue has space for two or three badminton courts, please contact us to discuss suitability. Requirements may vary depending on learner numbers.

Korfball posts
Access to a minimum of four Korfball posts is required.

Equipment
Korfballs and bibs should be available for use during the practical session.

Seating
Benches or seating areas should be available to enable any written work to be completed.

Participant facilities
Toilets and changing facilities should be available for all participants.

First aid equipment
Access to suitable first aid equipment at the delivery venue.

Defibrillator
Access to an automated external defibrillator (AED) at the delivery venue.
Don’t have Korfball posts?
If you do not have access to Korfball posts, we will attempt to source these from a local Korfball association or club. There may be an additional charge for hire and transportation.

Learners per course
The minimum number of learners required is eight. With one tutor, learner numbers should not exceed 20.
Course fee
£70
Per learner
The fee includes tutor delivery, mileage*, administration and access to the e-learning.
Mileage
Mileage is included for journeys up to a 200-mile round trip. Course organisers will be charged additional mileage for travel exceeding 200 miles at £0.30 per mile.
