This qualification is designed to provide benefit to learners on the basis that it prepares them for deployment as an independent korfball coach.
Who is it for?
The qualification is designed for those who wish to become involved in coaching korfball, and to have responsibility for the planning, delivery and evaluation of linked and progressive coaching sessions.
Who supports the qualification?
The qualification is recognised as the industry standard Level 2 Korfball qualification for coaches by UK Coaching and England Korfball. It is aligned to the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) professional standard for Coach.
By the end of the qualification, learners will:
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of a coach
- Understand participants and their development needs
- Be able to plan a series of coaching sessions
- Be able to deliver a series of coaching sessions
- Be able to review a series of coaching sessions
- Be able to coach participants to develop korfball through game play activities
What is the registration period?
Learners have a 2-year registration period in order to complete the qualification.
How is the qualification assessed?
Learners will be required to:
- complete a series of assessed tasks contained within their learner portfolio, provided by 1st4sport. This will be assessed on completion.
- demonstrate their ability to coach a session for a 40 minute period, observed by an assessor
What future employment could this qualification lead to?
This qualification may lead to paid or voluntary roles in coaching korfball sessions.
What future education could this qualification lead to?
Learners could progress on to the 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Coaching (Sport and Physical Activity) or participate in continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities offered within korfball and other coaching-related organisations. In addition, they may wish to progress their knowledge of coaching methods and practices by undertaking workshops and/or alternative learning opportunities offered by other relevant organisations, such as UK Coaching.
