Who is the workshop for?

Accredited by UK Coaching, this workshop is specifically for learners aged 16 & 17 years of age.

The workshop will raise your awareness of the tell-tale signs of abuse and give you the tools and confidence you need to deal with any issues sensitively, appropriately and effectively should the need ever arise in your coaching career.

By the end of the session, learners will be able to:

  • identify and recognise good practice when working with children as a coach or in your role in sport
  • recognise the duty of care you have for the welfare and wellbeing of players/participants
  • identify your best practice behaviours as you move from a player/participant to a coach (or a coaching role)
  • take appropriate action if you have concerns about a child (or an adult)

What’s the value of this workshop?

Learners will receive access to a digital resource which is valid on their learner dashboard for 3 months. 

Learner eligibility

Learners must be aged 16 or 17 years of age and be able to communicate effectively in English.

In order to access this workshop online via a virtual classroom, learners will be required to:

  • Have access to a laptop or tablet. A smartphone device is accepted but functionality can be limited. The device must have access to a microphone as the sessions will be interactive.
  • Have good WIFI access
  • Have access to an environment with limited distractions which is conducive to learning 
  • Be able to log into the workshop 10 minutes ahead of the designated start time.

Assessment

Informal ongoing assessment will take place throughout the workshop. Certification is valid for 2 years after which time the learner will need to attend the face to face Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop.

Format / duration

This workshop is delivered online through a virtual classroom and last for two hours. 

Progression opportunities

Learners may go onto attend a Safeguarding and Protecting Children once they reach 18 years of age.
