Sport Structures - Sport Education and Training
Accredited by UK Coaching, this workshop will raise your awareness of the tell-tale signs of abuse and give you the tools and confidence you need to deal with any issues sensitively, appropriately and effectively should the need ever arise in your coaching career.
This workshop is designed for individuals involved in delivering or organising adult sport. Safeguarding is a minimum deployment requirement for many sports governing bodies, representing the essential standards every coach must meet to ensure safe and effective practice. The online classroom is suitable for:
- Coaches, leaders, instructors, and volunteers delivering adult sport programmes
- Development officers, administrators, and parents supporting adult sport
- Organisers and decision-makers within governing bodies, local authorities, leisure centres, and sports clubs
As safeguarding requirements vary, it's important to check with your sport’s governing body to determine whether attending a safeguarding workshop is required before beginning your coaching role. Each governing body sets its own standards for safeguarding training, so confirming their specific expectations will help ensure you meet the necessary criteria for safe and responsible practice.
This workshop is accredited by UK Coaching. Through the workshop, you will explore:
- What great coaching practice looks like and how can you apply this to coaching, incorporating the key principles of safeguarding adults.
- How you can recognise and respond to concerns about adults, including possible signs of abuse, lower-level concerns and poor practice.
- How to report any concerns about adults, where appropriate
