Course description

This qualification is designed to provide industry professionals who have no assessing experience with a qualification to confirm competency in end-point assessment practice in order to allow them to practice as an Independent End-Point Assessor of learners’ knowledge and skills in relation to apprenticeship standards.

Who is the course for?

This qualification is designed for industry professionals who are aiming to become Independent End-Point Assessors of apprenticeship standards. Learners must be able to demonstrate the industry experience specified in the assessment plan of each standard they are deployed to end-point assess.

What’s the value of this course?

The qualification is transferable to any sector the learner may wish to act as an end point assessor and provides a national benchmark of good practice for England.

Learner eligibility

Learners must:

  • be accurately identified
  • be 24 years of age or over
  • be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing)

Assessment

To achieve the qualification, learners are required to complete a series of assessed tasks contained within their learner portfolio, provided by 1st4sport. These are:

  • Understanding End Point Assessment
  • Quality Assuring End-Point Assessment
  • Continuous Professional Development
  • Perform End-Point Assessment Activities
  • Undertake End-Point Assessment Activities

Learners will need to have access to documentation for their End Point Assessment Organisation’s Quality Assurance Policy. They will also be required to be observed by an assessor as they will be required to conduct one planned live or simulated end-point assessment. 

Assessor Criteria

Due to the assessment requirements for this qualification, learners need to be observed assessing in their own environment. Learners are welcome to source their own assessors  (that meet the assessor criteria). Alternatively, we can support in sourcing an appropriately qualified assessor. If the latter option is chosen, a fee will apply. Please contact us for further information.

Format / duration

This qualification is delivered using a virtual classroom, usually in two blocks of two hours, across 1 day. After these initial blocks of learning, an additional two hour session is organised, usually a month later.

Progression opportunities

Learners may wish to continue their professional development by up-skilling to become an internal quality assurer by completing the 1st4sport Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
