Course description

The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful delegates to be able to support the delivery of physical education, school sport and physical activity (PESSPA) through planning, leading and review activities that contribute to a PESSPA programme.

Who is the course for?

The qualification is perfect for those who are involved in supporting schools in their delivery of physical education, school sport and physical activity to support teaching assistants, sport development officers, coaches and other learners who wish to deliver in a school environment.

Learning Outcomes

By undertaking the qualification, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand schools and the principles of teaching physical education, school sport
    and physical activity.
  • Safeguard children and young people in PESSPA
  • Maintain health and safety of pupils in PESSPA
  • Support children to develop through PESSPA relative to their expected
    development
  • Implement diversity and inclusion principles in physical education, school sport and
    physical activity
  • Support assessment for learning in physical education
  • Plan, deliver and review a PESSPA unit of work
  • Organise and lead an event or competition that contributes to the PESSPA
    programme

Learner eligibility

Learners must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing).
  • Hold a Level 2 physical education or sport-related qualification, examples include: the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Learning in Physical Education and School Sport (QCF), GCSE in Physical Education (Grades A-C), a Level 2 National Governing Body of Sport coaching qualification, a Level 2 BTEC in Sport - a Level 2 qualification in sports/activity leadership or a 1st4sport recognised equivalent
  • Have access to a laptop or tablet with a microphone. A smartphone device is accepted but functionality can be limited. Please also ensure you have good WIFI access.

Assessment 

Learners must:

  • Complete a series of written tasks
  • Plan, deliver and review a 6-hour Unit of Work that meets the PE requirements for a school the delegate is working in
  • Tutor/Assessor observation of at least one school-based PESSPA session

As part of this qualification, learners are required to undertake workplace observational assessments (in a school environment). If assessors are required to make more than a 50 mile round trip, the learner will be asked to pay for the additional mileage ahead of agreeing to proceed with the assessments.

Format / duration

The course is delivered via online virtual classrooms with a course tutor.  Once the virtual classroom sessions have been completed, we will arrange a virtual presentation delivery with the course tutor, on a one to one basis. 

Cost and booking

This course costs £550 per learner.

Payment plans are available to support individuals to pay for this course.  If you decide to go ahead with a payment plan, please pay 50% of the course fee below to secure your place and we will then contact you to arrange the next payment.

If you wish to pay in full, you will find an option to pay 100% of the course fee below.
