Annual Wage: £9,254.44

Working Week: Mon – Fri, 9am-5pm (occasional weekend and evening work may be required)

Total hours per week: 37.0

The Community Sport and Health Officer will be responsible for initiating behaviour change in local residents with regards to engagement in sport and physical activity across local communities in Amber Valley. They will specifically support the Physical Activity and Wellbeing Project Officer to deliver wellbeing and physical activity initiatives.

Duties/Activities will include:

  • Work within and across local organisations to scope, organise and coordinate the delivery of opportunities for local communities to get more physically active across Amber Valley.
  • Adapt delivery models to suit different groups in the Amber Valley area.
  • Support staff to manage and lead colleagues or volunteers on physical activity opportunities in Amber Valley.
  • Develop and devise appropriate sports or physical activity programmes to support our local programmes, such as the Walk Derbyshire, Health Referral, Cared for Children and Get Out Get Active (GOGA) work.
  • Collaborate with a network of partners / stakeholders to develop appropriate physical activities locally.
  • Attend staff and stakeholder group meetings
  • Supervise and deliver sport/physical activity sessions
  • Liaise with partner organisations and stakeholder to support them with opportunities which impact on physical activity levels in Amber Valley.
  • Design marketing material and update social media around available physical activity sessions  
  • Report against project criteria
