Tutor/Assessor

Role

I use my 25 years experience as a PE teacher (working across Key Stages 3 and 4 and as an SSCO working with primary schools) to tutor and assess Apprentice Sports Coaches in Activity Leadership and PE and School Sport (PESS). I am also qualified in and responsible for IQA (Internal Quality Assurance) of other tutors and students work. My roles take me mainly across the Midlands, and the West of England, but occasionally anywhere needed.

Ask me about……

Apprenticeships - Level 2 Activity Leadership (with PESS or Coaching Pathway), Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of PE and School Sport (PESS).

When I am not working……

I’m out playing hockey or badminton. I’m Aldridge and Walsall ladies hockey 1st team Captain and Chairwoman, I have played for British Polytechnics, England Universities, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, England Over 40’s and 45’s and Midlands Over 50’s and love playing social mixed vets hockey too,’Go the Aardvarks ‘Go Saga’!! Which also involves lots of drinking, singing and generally making a fool at myself, which I’m very good at! 😁

My colleagues say……

Mel has vast experience in the delivery of sports apprenticeship programmes and is known as the ‘go to’ person for advice on them. She is great at keeping her learners motivated and on target which is supported by her strong organisational skills and attention to detail when marking their work. The fun, energetic atmosphere that Mel creates when she is teaching, and in the office, means that her learners and colleagues always enjoy being around her.
