Profile

After completing her degree Alaina moved back from London to Birmingham, Alaina worked for Sport Structures as a Community Sports Coach for both Basketball and Multi-sports in the Black Country. After six months working as a community coach, Alaina was promoted to the position of Development Assistant – Coaching within the Pathways/Triple S Coach Education Support Programme in the Black Country.

Role

Alaina works on the Coach education and intervention programmes, to develop coaches from disadvantaged backgrounds. Within this role is also recruitment of the people that go on to the programme, liaising with sports clubs, county sport partnerships, NGB’s and in particular the individual candidates. Alaina is an expert in engaging with disadvantages communities, she has developed an approach that ensures that she finds to solutions to engagement through non-traditional routes.

Experience

Alaina came from a background of sports development at Newham 6th form college and multi sports coaching, coaching children and adults from many diffrent backgrounds. Alaina has a degree in Sport Science and qualification in mentoring and counseling. Alaina is an expert in working one-to-one with coaches in developing them and their opportunities.

Alaina is currently head coach of the Birmingham Force U14 girls national league team. Alaina is working towards her level 3 basketball qualification. She has recently qualified as a Coach Education tutor for England basketball and now delivering coach education courses in the Black Country.
