Profile

Anna joined Sport Structures from UK Sport where she worked in the Performance Directorate. Prior to this she worked for Sport England and the ASA as a Regional Development Manager. At UK Sport she was responsible for managing an effective partnership with a number of National Governing Bodies of sport (NGBs) – supporting, advising and challenging their performance planning and implementation. She is a graduate of both Birmingham (BSc Sports Science and Psychology) and Loughborough (MSc Recreation Management) Universities. Anna is also a Running Sports tutor.

Role

Anna plays an important role in leading projects related to National Governing Bodies and County Sports Partnerships particularly in Workforce, Equality and Planning. Anna has worked on, and led, a number of projects with a variety of partners. This includes support to the County Sports Partnerships in the East Midlands with the development of their workforce development plans, a multi faceted project with the British Canoe Union, developing and implementing their volunteer strategy, reviewing their child protection work and supporting them to pull together a guide of good practice in canoeing and work with two local authorities in Lincolnshire to develop their sports strategies.

She has developed a range of experience working within the area of equality, both in her role at Sport England and more recently with Sport Structures, supporting the development of a number of NGBs in the compilation of their equality action plans and their progress towards the foundation and preliminary levels of the Equality Standard. She has worked with Sport England in the NW supporting them with the compilation of evidence for the Sport England Intermediate level portfolio. Her experience enables her communicate, plan, develop and deliver projects effectively and efficiently.

Experience

Anna has developed a variety of skills and competencies through her current role at Sport Structures and through her previous work. She is an effective communicator and has excellent time management skills. She brings to the company extensive experience of working with NGBs having left her position as Performance Development Consultant with UK Sport.

Prior to this she was a Development Manager in the Governing Bodies Unit at Sport England. In that role she had responsibility as lead officer for the provision of a range of services to NGBs, including advice internally and externally in key policy areas and also grant management for both exchequer and lottery funding.

Her first position was Regional Development Officer for the Amateur Swimming Association, where she was responsible for swimming development within the Eastern region.
