The Level 2 British Dressage Equine Groom apprenticeship is a practical, hands-on programme where apprentices will work under supervision, individually or as part of a team. The Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship is approximately 13 months in duration (12 months training and 1 month EPA) and covers the key competencies required to successfully work as a groom, under supervision on a dressage or equine yard.

Primary Roles of an Equine Groom Apprentice:
The Equine Groom is an integral part of the life of the horse, providing essential day-to-day care. They will be involved with feeding, grooming, cleaning equipment, handling, preparing, exercising the horses and carrying out routine yard duties. The Equine Groom may also be required to assist with the preparation of, transport to and care for horses at competitions.
Delivery Outline:
Training is delivered by our team of qualified tutors at your workplace or another suitable venue. Learners are supported in achieving the British Dressage Equine Groom apprenticeship criteria via the use of support resources and optional e-learning modules.
If required, learners will also be supported by their tutor to gain Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths.

The Level 2 British Dressage Equine Groom apprenticeship is designed to develop the key competencies required to successfully work as a groom in a dressage or equestrian yard.
For learners
Individuals will gain the knowledge and skills required to work as a groom in a dressage or equestrian yard and will cover topics such as; maintaining the horses’ physical and psychological well-being, feeding, grooming and carrying out routine yard duties.
